The students applied their understanding of the procedures to calculate the area and perimeter in real life situations. They measured the dimensions of their notebooks and table tops to calculate the perimeter and area of the same. Later they inquired about the dimensions of their classroom floor and calculated the area and perimeter using those dimensions.Students were given word problems on area and perimeter for further practice. They discussed the word problems with their peers and chose appropriate strategy to solve the same.
